Linda GarmonParticipantJohn 15:4-8 continued:
Linda- please explain what I am seeing and why. The vine looks so skimpy. How could it produce so much?
Jesus- beloved this is a picture of branches at rest. The branch is connected to the vine which is the source of everything needed for growth, producing fruit, and receiving life. All the branch has to do is rest and be connected vine. The Lord of the vineyard will carefully inspect each branch, looking for any pest that tries to invade his vine. The Lord loves his vineyard and wants it to be unhindered in producing fruit. He carefully trains the tendrils on each branch where He wants them to cling. If unattended these tendrils will attach to anything pulling the branch off of its path. He also cuts away small sprouts and shoots that will detract and deplete the life of the vine. Much pruning produces much fruit.
Jesus- beloved you are the branches, as you present yourself before me day after day in humility knowing that our connection is vital for your life, your health, your continued growth, your success at being what you were called to be and doing what you were called to do. This is all accomplished by abiding. Your part is to rest, stretch your arms out wide before me and submit to my pruning. I know how to produce excellent, abundant fruit. Your part is allow me to be your Lord. Allow me to remove all the things that hinder your growth. Little things that might not be sinful in nature, but they are pulling you away from your destiny.
The big basket of grapes which I present to the Father, (the Lord of the Vineyard) is your future beloved.Linda GarmonParticipantDonna, I hope you will, we can help each other. Thank you for your words of encouragement.
